My Trophy Case

People often ask me what I do with my medals, race bib numbers and race t-shirts. Well, my race t-shirts get placed in my drawer until it gets so unruly I can't stuff anymore in; Then they go in a rubbermaid container in storage. I keep thinking I am going to do something really cool with them. But to be honest, I am just not that crafty. I will keep saving them because I just know someday someone will come up with a great idea or I will cut them up and use them as dust rags. Ha. I love to clean!

I save all my medals and bib numbers. I don't save much. I am not a collector. I hate clutter and often throw away things without thinking it all the way through. These things are different. Each has a different story, a different experience and have meaning to me. Right now, I have them hanging on a wire wreath-like thing that is supposed to hold cards and photos. It's my own little wall of fame, I suppose.

  1. Yeah, I don't collect anything at all, but I do keep the medals and bib numbers from my marathons and ultras. There's still something special about those. In fact, I store all of the marathon/ultra stuff in vertical files so I know when I've hit all 50 dates. :-)

I give the 5k/10k medals to my kids to play with and I give all my race shirts away.

Reminds me of this quote from William Morris:

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”

  2. mine looks very similar! I keep it above my dresser and helps as a motivator when I'm struggling!

  3. I keep my bibs in a scrapbook with the registration form. My medals hang on hooks attached to my office wall. Every time I walk into my office, my eyes drift over to my medals and it makes me happy. Because I know how much hard work it took to get them. :)

  4. I've saved all my bibs, they're in a photo box. I'm yet to get some sort of rack to hold my medals. I know there's some crafty medal holders you can get from Etsy.

  5. You need to find someone who quilts and turn those shirts into a quilt.
Whoa. That just sounded really bossy. I honestly meant it to be a suggestion. :)
